HOLI CELEBRATION
Date: JUNE 2022 Event: HOLI CELEBRATION This week the children had a fantastic opportunity to take part in R.E workshops based around the Indian festival of colour, ‘Holi’. Kalpesh from K’z Dance Entertainment Ltd taught all the children some traditional Indian dances and discussed with them the meaning of the Holi festival. At the end of the day the whole school came together and performed the dances taught earlier in the day, the children and staff had some wonderful moves! At the end of the performance everyone took part in throwing colourful dyes at one another to celebrate Holi, just like it is carried out in India.
International Dance Day
On Friday 29th April, Haddenham St Mary and Haddenham Community Infant Schools celebrated International Dance Day and had an old friend, Kalpesh from KZ Dance UK, back to visit.
Windmill Hill Academy pupils had a great time during their enrichment day
During the last week of term, the children and staff at St Stephens Community Academy and Windmill Hill Academy in Launceston, which are both part of the An Daras Trust, were privileged to receive a day's enrichment based on Indian dance and culture.
Indian Dance workshops and performance
The children at St. Stephens have been fortunate to have taken part in an amazing Indian dance workshop with the wonderful, self-proclaimed 'Mr. Bollywood', Kalpesh. KS1 thoroughly enjoyed learning and participating in the dancing. They loved the music, Kalpesh's enthusiasm, his fantastic costume and beautiful Rangoli umbrellas. We all learned lots of brilliant dance moves, and were able to learn about his culture, traditions and some of the festivals through a question and answer session. To finish off the day, the whole school was able to perform their dances to the parents at the end of the day - and even get the grown ups to join in too!
Ellington families enjoy colourful Holi celebrations
Children, families and staff from Ellington Infant School in Ramsgate took part in a colour-filled celebration in honour of the Hindu festival Holi yesterday (March 24). The school invited in Kalpesh Zalavadiya, a classically trained Indian dance teacher, to work with all of the children in a Bollywood-inspired day of music and dance. Kalpesh put children and staff through their paces in workshops which taught a number of dance routines, which would be put together for a whole school performance in the afternoon.
